Settlements such as your home camp of Ravensthorpe offered up a tight range of 45-50fps, while out in the fields of Oxfordshire I saw anything between 50-63fps depending the number of trees, enemies, weather conditions and whether I was perched on top of a tall building or not. The frame rate dipped a little lower when I was out in the world, but it often only varied between 45-60fps depending on the complexity of the landscape. Armed with my GTX 1060, the game's internal benchmark returned an average frame rate of 50fps on High at 1080p, which is well above their stated 30fps target. Naturally, Valhalla is more demanding to run than Odyssey, placing as much burden on your CPU as your GPU, but it's nowhere near as bad as Ubisoft's official PC requirements might imply. As Alice B said in her Assassin's Creed Valhalla review, it's very much "a lively grab bag of all the best bits from Assassin’s Creed games past", and I'm having a real good time with it. I'm also enjoying just playing the thing, too. England is a much earthier, denser place than Ancient Greece, and there's a depth and texture to its ancient woodlands, rolling hills and mish-mash of Roman, Saxon and Viking homesteads that just isn't there in Odyssey's shining marble columns.
